Model can be controlled only using Virtual Cockpit, there are no 2D panels. Generally 3D cabins have inconvenient access to remote operating controls. That is why special measures were taken to provide fast and easy cockpit navigation. First of all, there is powerful views system provided by FlightGear. Here and further a view means point of view.
There a five preconfigured points of view: captain's view, second pilot's view, navigator's view (central console), overhead view, flight engineer's view. You ca use default simulator's shortcuts (like V, Shift+V, Ctrl+V), but it's not handy since external views are also included in this list. That is why 1,2,3,4,5 are assigned for direct view switch. 1 - captain's view, 2 - second pilot's view and so on. Usually these keys assigned to throttle control, but Tu-154B model uses joystick for throttle control and numeric keys can be used for view selection.
All controls described here are labeled in such way: first digit always represents view number, which means that switch 406 can be found on view four (o overhead in this case). Simulator remembers each view state so it is advised to assign "Center view" function to easy accessed key.
Beside five main views there are five sub views - one for each main one. Sub view is a fixed view which can be accessed pressing "~" (tilda) key. On the key release main view is restored. You can change sub view parameters (like direction and FOV) as usually, but these settings are not saved on view switching. By default, sub views assigned to:
- captain and second pilot - larger instruments view
- navigator - central panel instruments view
- overhead - larger PU-11 panel view
- flight engineer - left part of instrumental panel view
Default parameters for sub views can be changed in model's set-file.
Depending upon selected view some elements of cabin will be hidden. In example, Throttle Levers are hidden in navigator's view to give you clean view of USHDB and USH.
